My children-annual graham cracker house making

Good morning!

Welcome to March!! Wow, it sure blew in here. It's supposed to be nice today, with more icky weather tomorrow.

Pixie, I just heard that Warren is going to be at a Chonda Pierce concert, along with Natalie Grant, in Decatur on March 10th. Ugh! Wish gas weren't so expensive, I'd LOVE to be there!

We have Harold for at least 12 hours today, from 6:30am to 6:30pm or so. My friend, JoAnn's, daughter gave birth to her first son yesterday. They live about an hour and a half north of here. She's headed there to help out and just take in that sweet babe for the day. Honey is hoping to be coming home early. He didn't leave work until 6:30 last night, so he has over time to cut. Hopefully, he'll be able to take all of it today and come home and skip lunch. He has to stop for milk and eggs on the way home, but then he'll be taking a nap. We were really late getting to bed last night. I'd sure like to be sleeping now! If it weren't for Harold's early arrival, that's where I'd be now.  Roll Eyes

Less than a week until Rebecca graduates. She's counting down the days!

I'm off to tend to a few matters online before Harold arrives.

Have a great day!

Blessings,
Laurie

Good Morning

Up at 4:30 to let heifers out of barn. Not complaining as that is the first time I have done it and dd's put them in last night when they got home from church. Boy some are really getting close. Today I am sending the 2 dz hard boiled eggs to school for Dr Suess day. What a diaster with farm fresh eggs and I tried to use the oldest. I borrowed the eggie thing I gave my neighbor for a bday present but I gave her 2 boxes and she only sent one, so 6 at a time. So I need to can more dried beans and move and sand boards. Besides the dailies of straighten house, dishes, laundry, chickens, etc. I need to make a tie blanket for a friend who is having a baby. Off to get that coffee. Decided to just stay up after letting heifers out.

Good Morning!

Laurie - How exciting for Rebecca!  I am sure you are a proud mama too!:)

Janice - you accomplish so much each day.  Amazing!

I am up at 4:00 to take my hubby for blood work before work.  Then I have to be at work by 7:30 to make up an hour that I had to take off for a Dr. appt for him.  This Dr. wants to see us weekly for a while.   It's good, but it is almost 1 hour away and I have to do it during work hours.  My bosses are so wonderful.  I hope this guy can truly help hubby with his cognitive impairment.  Some news I wasn't thrilled to get at the appt, but in reality it doesn't change a whole lot....we just understand things a bit better than we did.  The extra gas and appointments are going to cost $100 a month.   Cry

One good thing, but will be extremely challenging with working, etc. is that we really need to get our diet cleaned up and refined sugars/flours, out and reduce his fruit intake (especially higher sugar fruits) as the Dr. thinks that could make his cognitive problems a little worse.  So, this weekend I really need to pull out our book from the Nutritionist and see about planning every meal better and go to a higher protein and lower carb (and only healthier carb) diet.  This is a challenge on the budget for sure because rice, etc is so much cheaper.  I will do it though.  Poor hubby is disappointed that he should not eat many bananas.  He can have 1/2 a day...but hubby tends to overeat those, so I am going to only buy 1-2 a week. (he has ended up eating as many as 5 in a day).  Have I mentioned my hubby is a big snacker...especially when I am not home.   Wink

One more day until I surprise my hubby for his birthday.  I am so excited.  Smiley

Dinner will be leftover taco soup.  Smiley

Good morning!

It is a cloudy, dreary day so far.  It looks like it should get a bit nicer at some point.  It is supposed to be a bit warmer over the weekend, too.

Today is a mostly at home day.  Molly has off because of parent/teacher conferences.  We have our conference at 1:00.  She is a good student so I know it will go fine.

There is musical rehearsal this afternoon/evening for Zachary and Madelyn and dance class for Madelyn so there will be some running around this evening.

I have laundry to do today and I need to decide what I am making for dinner.  I am not sure if we will all be eating together so I may make soup since it can sit on the stove to keep it warm.

Laurie - Enjoy your day!  I hope you get some sleep tonight.

Janice - Busy as always I see!

Debbie - Enjoy your day off!  You deserve it!

Morning,
Well today is only going to be 31*. so I don't think much of the snow will melt. My dad will be coming over to blow out the drifts some time this morning.
Today I have dishes and tiding. if I feel up to it I might do some sewing, But I have a cold fighting to take over and I am losing the fight.

Good morning  Smiley

It's a foggy morning here.  I don't think I'll be getting any laundry out on the line today.  I'll do a load for the drying rack instead.

Billy leaves tomorrow morning.  He's pretty excited.  I'm super nervous about him making such a long trip on his own.  It's a 20 hour drive.  We were hoping Doug would be able to drive out with him and then fly home, but that's just not going to work.  I'm sure he'll be fine, but it's hard for this Mama to not worry!!

My book group friends and I are going to a huge used book sale this morning.  It's always a fun time.  We'll grab some lunch while we're out.

This afternoon I'm going to make Billy some things for him to take to school- granola, hot chocolate mix, chocolate chip cookies, and fruit/oat bars.  I also have to take his comforter off of his bed and sew up a couple tears before he takes it.  I'm going to organize sheets and towels for him and try to think of what else he may need while he's away.

Dinner tonight is pork tenderloin, butter/parm orzo, homemade applesauce, broccoli, and biscuits.

Have a great day!

Good morning!

I have a busy day today. All the usual stuff plus I really have to get March's menu done since Mark goes shopping after work today and I have an eye doctor appointment this afternoon. I see him yearly since I have type 2 diabetes and my mom had a history of glaucoma.

I've been enjoying the gazelle and wii fit a bit too much I'm afraid. I have bad feet and ankles to begin with so now I'm aching a bit. But I'm enjoying exercising for the first time in my life and don't want to stop!

I thought about buying a Kindle but told Mark yesterday that I would just wait until our library system decided to add ebooks into their offerings. Well imagine my surprise when a flier from the library came in the mail yesterday saying they were adding ebooks starting in April!! Lol So I went to the library last night to find out more about it. It will be $2.50 for each ebook you borrow and you keep it for 14 days and then it's automatically taken back. Well, I can go to the library and get the real book for nothing and keep it for 28 days so whats the big deal about the ebooks??? Free looks a lot better then $2.50 to me! Of course I have to make sure I return it and don't incur overdue fines but I'm usually good about that. Plus you can't get the Little House books or the Martha Years etc on ebook and those are the ones I really want to read so forget the Kindle. I don't think I'd use it enough to make buying it reasonable.

Well I have to get Olivia to school. I had to pick her up early yesterday. She was in theory class and her cell phone went off. She uses it as an alarm clock every night and forgot to turn the sound off. It's the first time it has happened to her but they sent her home. She was more upset with the girl she thought was a friend who went and told on her then on being sent home. So hopefully today will go better!

Dinner tonight is chicken enchilada casserole.

Have a great day ladies!!

Good morning ladies,
Wow this week has gone by so fast!   Smiley
We got some good rain yesterday, may be some more scattered today.
Malyna came over yesterday, DS didn't have to work because of the rain.  We had a great time playing and ending it with a tea party.  She loves tea parties, she only wants water in the teapot.  Smiley
I have to run to the post office and may take a quick trip to the store for milk.  Other then that an at home day.
Dinner is meatloaf, potatoes, and a veggie.
Wishing you all a blessed day.

Good morning!

Just on for a minute while my egg cupcakes bake. They have spinach, zucchini, bacon, and green onion in, sound yummy!  We've been doing so much better about getting our veggies in lately, and I have loads of energy so I think it really makes a difference.

I had not been meeting with my friends from church on Thursdays due to homeschool co-op.  Homeschool co-op was just disappointing, not because of the kids, but because of the parents.  So, I QUIT, yippee!  I feel so much freer since doing so.  It's sad, though, there is so much good stuff with co-op, and you'd think Christian homeschooling parents would have better attitudes (some do, but others are a real pain).  Oh well.

I've been entirely gluten-free for a week again now, and feel so much lighter.  I haven't weighed due to AF being here, but I just don't get that bloated feeling inside.

Dinner tonight, not sure yet, but I think we may go out for Mexican.  It's kids' night at our favorite place so all the kids can eat for .99 apiece.  Earl and I would be able to get fajitas minus the tortillas or something else safe (enchiladas if we cheat a little and have some corn).

Debbie, I don't know if it would be of interest to you, but the Everyday Paleo book has been helpful to me.  I don't believe all the premises behind this way of eating, but in the back it has 30 days of meal plans, minus grains, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack.  I shopped according to this last week and it's been very easy to prep these meals, and aside from fruit smoothies are low carb/high protein.  Didn't spend a ton on groceries, either.  I got this from the library.

Gotta run, but I hope everyone else has a wonderful day!

Good morning!

It sure is windy today.  Looks like another storm headed this way.

Today is our 26th anniversary.  I had lots of housework planned but hubby has instructed me to take the day off.  We will be going out for sub sandwiches for lunch to celebrate.

I got most of my laundry caught up yesterday.  I had to make laundry soap first so that slowed things up a bit.  I made enough laundry soap that I shouldn't have to make more for about 3 months.  I ended up filling half of a five gallon bucket.  I will use it to refill the coffee can that I keep on top of the dryer.

Not much else planned for today since I am taking the day off.  Maybe a board game or a video this afternoon.

~Blessings~

Good morning ladies,

March came in like a lamb. I hope it stays that way.  Wink The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and most important...that horrible wind of yesterday has moved on.  Grin

I am working on my grocery list. Country Mart is having a big meat sale, so we may stock up a bit. I dug in the freezer and found some Kielbasa that needed to be used. So for lunch we have Kielbasa, kraut, green beans and cauliflower.

I finished the quilting on Kevin's Christmas quilt last night. Today I will get the binding on and it is ready for him to use. He is happy. They are having a Jaws marathon on tv today, so he is watching until he has to leave for work. Then that channel will be changed so fast it would make your head spin. LOL

Catherine, I am almost to 3 weeks of eating gluten free. I feel much better. I guess I need to stick to this way of eating . I have been doing lots of research and found recipes on Pinterest that I want to try. That is why I am working so hard on my list and menu.
Cindy, happy anniversary to you and your dh.
Nita, I hope you feel better soon.
Janice, I thought about driving up to get some eggs, but it would make the eggs be about $50 per dozen. Can't afford that. LOL
Debi, I didn't think I would like the Kindle either, but I love mine. I have gotten hundreds of books for free from Amazon.
Debbie, you are such a good wife to your hubby. Now you both have a wonderful day tomorrow.
Pam, enjoy your day. You never know. Nolan might make his arrival later.  Wink
Ann, you have prepared Billy well. He will do just fine. Of course I will be praying for safe travels for him.
Linda, I hope you have a good day at work.
Denise, woohoo, a mostly at home day for you is big.  Smiley Maybe you can take some time to put your feet up.
Laurie, hard to believe that Rebecca is ready to graduate already. Time has flown by. Congratulations to her.

Well, I need to get started on that binding. Everyone have a good day. Thinking of you all.

Blessings,

Laurie (sbdriver) pardon me for saying this, but I am glad those temps are with you and not down here.  Cheesy You must be one tough lady to live in all that cold and snow. Not only live there, but drive a school bus as well.  Shocked I would be such a weenie if I lived up there. Have a good one, friend.

I did this for almost a full month back in the fall, then got sidetracked when I went out of town for four days to a conference.  After the first couple of days, the cravings for breads and such just disappear...I LOVE that!  Plus, I eat so many more veggies.

Windows open here, too.  Supposed to hit 77 today.  I just checked my corn (flat is under the bed to sprout) and some are sprouted.  Won't be long now...I'm putting it out early and covering it at night to see if I can baby along an early crop.

I keep watching my tulip bulbs I have planted in the old washtub,
they keep coming on up,soon there will be buds!
i think the daffodils are starting to sprout too!

I'm going to get another galvanized wash tub to plant my herbs in this year.
I guess that will be my kitchen herb planter, the porch is right off the kitchen
so that makes it a kitchen herb garden! Grin

Catherine

Thank you, I will look into that book.  Smiley

Decatur is about an hour and a half or so from here. I've only been there 4 times in the 8 years we've lived here.
I'd sure like to go to that event.
How cute...it's neat that Mont gets to know all these famous folks! Smiley
