Honey with the first set of new bookshelves. :)

Good morning!
Today is my running day....running around, not actually running...
We need to be there 30 minutes earlier than usual today. I only went to bed 3 hours ago....could be a long day....
Thomas is going along today to help work. He's happy to work and make a few dollars. I sure would like for both of them to find work...and closer to home! I asked at the post office about a small air rifle shop yesterday here in town if they might need some help. She said she didn't think so...but we may stop there to ask. The shop is about 3 minutes away from our home...and it's something Thomas is quite interested in...so it would be a good thing...
Tomorrow is Honey's last day of this schedule. Monday, he goes back to his normal 5am-2pm schedule. There are some nice things about this schedule...we all get more sleep because we don't "have" to be up until 11. But, we're all out of whack. I'm ready to be back to normal.
And I'm SUPER ready for this heat to leave. Another month. ICK! I'm dreaming of fall weather...cooler...windows open...needing a blanket at night....wanting to cook....going outside without sweating just standing still....yep...bring on fall....
Guess we need to hit the road....
Have a great day!
Blessings,
Laurie

Good morning
Laurie, I have a running around day today too
.
I'm heading to Lowes to pick up moth traps, and spray foam insulation for Doug to fill in big gaps behind the wall of our pantry where I'm afraid the moths are coming from.
I'm going to Michaels to buy votive candles and holders, and big popsicle sticks for turning the wedding programs into fans.
I'm going to the Christmas tree shop to see if I can find tiki torches inexpensively.
I'm going to a nursery to buy annuals that are on sale 50% off. I want to make 3 baskets to put on the porch and patio for the wedding.
After that I'm coming home to stay.
I have a bunch of laundry, but it looks like we'll be having storms later today. I may just wait until tomorrow to do that when the weather looks better. It's so humid now anyway, I fear that the clothes will get sour smelling before they actually dry
I have some dusting I want to do as well as some general clean up all over.
Dinner tonight is a toasty salmon casserole and salad. There will be no baking today until Doug works on the pantry and I get everything put away. My counters and kitchen table are covered!
I hope you all have a great day!

GOOD MORNING Ladies
We've been up since 6am and needless to say some people are fighting like there is no tomorrow.. My grandmother sent a HUGE Garbage bag home with chris yesterday filled with Clothes, toys, laptops*kids*and snow suits all for the kids that someone gave her.. Emely is super Happy she now has a Bratz lap top that has all kinds of stuff she can work on that is actually school related like math, spelling etc.. I now have winter jackets for Emely,Michaela, snow pants for Michaela and winter boots for Michaela.. I already had the snow gear for Hannah ..so I will just need to find some for AJ, and the snow boots for everyone else..
Mom had a doctors appointment yesterday Her Blood Pressure is right backup..she's gone back to work and as usual didn't listen to me when I told her she should take the summer/fall off so she can let her health recoup and till she sees her specialist and goes for treatment.. But she is worried about bills etc even thou her husband should be able to pay those considering he's making extremely good money.. If he could stop drinking >:(they would be good but he won't
and her health keeps going down hill.
. But what do I know I'm only her daughter *thats how I feel* and have been thru this one time before with her..before my dad died ..
I've been busy doing laundry diapers, chris work clothes, and I have Hannah and emely's sheets to go next after The washer gets done this load.. The rest of the house except the front Hall way and the deck are ready for saturday.. Saturday morning I will have the kids clean their rooms again and chris is going to mow friday night .
I need to bake some sugar cookies today and another loaf of bread .. I also need to shuck corn for supper tonight.. We're having Corn for supper and not sure what else YET..
lol Lori I sooo agree with the being ready for Fall to be here.. I LOVE SUMMER cause of the gardens etc but the heat seriously i could do without the humidity
Supper Tonight is Corn and PASTA SALADE

That's very exciting to get so many hand me downs. Winter stuff for kids can be so expensive!

Good morning ladies!
You all have so much to get done today! Hope that it goes smoothly for you!
Not much is getting done here at home. Holly is supposed to rest but if either myself or my husband get up to do anything she follows us around. She doesn't want to be left alone at all. So, our main purpose this week is to help her recover from the biopsy and not cause any more damage to her foot. Dependiing on the results we may have another surgery that will lead to a much longer recovery. *sigh* It of course depends on the cost, whether it is cancerous, etc. I hate the "waiting" for results part....yes, I know she is just a dog, but she is our baby. We have had her since she was 6 weeks old. She was the first dog we got as a married couple.
We had a yummy dinner last night: I cut up zucchini from the garden, tomato's from a friends garden, onion, red pepper, and garlic and sauteed in olive oil until warm throughout, added some oregano, basil salt and pepper and then put it over some brown rice pasta.
I am looking forward to those leftovers for lunch.
I work today. We are having a little reprieve in new loans so I have been able to get a lot done. I do hope though that I get some new loans today as I am ready. Some of the reps said they have some loans coming. I always laugh though. I get them all at once and then I am stressed out trying to get them reviewed in a timely manner. LOL! We always says it is "feast or famine" in work.
Dinner tonight will be a salad and french bread pizza.

Good morning!
I just spent about 30 minutes out in the garden fighting with the hose! Why in the world didn't I buy one that says it doesn't kink?
? But it's running now so I'm sure my plants are happy! We didn't get the rain I thought we would get yesterday so I need to water.
Today I have to take Olivia to work (DQ) at 11. Pick her up at 3 and drop Veronica off at 3 (DQ). Drop Matthew off at 4 (McD) and pick him up at 8. Plus Veronica gets picked up at 10:30. I think they need to start contributing to gas!!
Plus inbetween all that driving I need to go visit my mom. I want to see if her physical therapist can show me how to use the transfer board so I hope to catch her.
Plus tons of laundry to do and general stuff around the house. It's starting to look like a busy day!
It's to be a beautiful day here. High 70's/low 80's and lower humidity. It still feels like summer though and I am not a summer person!
Dinner tonight is quiche and fruit and perhaps pickled beets if I remember to put them out.
Have a great day ladies!!

I am so with you on this one! We got AC last year and I am so grateful for it but I still feel hot and icky all the time. Better than I did before the AC but I still feel it. My sewing room is a spare room with a freezer and a fridge running in it so it's always warmer. I want to live on a mountain. With a large mountain lake. With little icebergs floating on it!!

Good morning!
Sunny, hot, and humid at my house. We did get some rain last night and the garden looks great! So nice not to have to water; I got the water bill today and just about passed out. Another fee has been tacked on to the already too high bill.
I've still got the waste water pitcher next to the kitchen sink so everyone pours in their leftover ice, drinking water, etc. and I'm using that to water the plants and flowers on my front porch.
Some people use "gray water" from their washer. How would I do that? Would I run the exit water hose into a bucket? Do I just bail it out into a bucket? I'd like to hear how it's done.
Just a typical day for me. I'm hoping to be home all day and get some things done. I want to start on some throw pillows for our bedroom. I have some fabrics in pinks/blues/lavenders/yellow and one with butterflies. I'm looking for a rag quilt pattern, but have only found quilts not pillows so far.
Dinner tonight is hot dogs on the George Foreman grill, a big chef salad with cheese chunks and boiled eggs, and baked beans.
Laurie, I hope Thomas can get some work at the store. It's so hard for the young people to find any work since so many experienced workers are out job-hunting, too.
Ann, sounds like another busy day for you; I hope you find all the wedding goodies at a good price!
Cryssie, Hooray on the clothes for the children.
Cathie, have a good day and enjoy your tea time!
Debbie, still hoping for a good report for Holly. A much loved pet is never "just a dog."
I loved my lab mix dog so very much and still well up in tears when I think of her.
Debi, glad to hear your mom is making progress. We had to have the children start pitching in on gasoline. With all the driving, the gas costs were just too much for us to handle alone. We figured it was better than them paying for their own cars, insurance, etc.
Have a good day, everyone! Off to move the first load of laundry!

Cryssie, I am so sorry you are going through this! A homecare nurse that my mom often has told me once that mom is an adult and I can only do what I can do, the rest is up to her. She was told to always wear shoes when she walked but she didn't do it. She was often barefoot in the house. With the nuropthy in her feet from the diabetes she can't feel if she should step on something or injure her feet somehow so I wonder if she had worn her shoes perhaps she wouldn't have gotten this ulcer that is now causing her so much trouble. But I did what I could and that is all either of us can do!
Your mom will be in my prayers.

Jennie, our water bill is always higher than it should be also. Our house used to be a duplex. The water heater is back in one half of the house in the laundry room. The house is U shaped so it's at the end of one U. The kitchen is at the beginning of the other side of the U just past the bend. It takes forever to get hot water into the kitchen! You have to run gallons of cold water to get the hot. I thought about saving it but I'd have to have buckets all over the place to do that! It's just too much water to try to save.
I would love to get two on demand water heaters, one for each half of the house. I bet it would cut our water bill almost in half! I think about it every time I have to run the water to get it hot in the kitchen or the bathroom in that half of the house. They aren't cheap either though!

Good morning!
I'm ready for fall! Who's with me?
I've just about got my bedroom closet organized the way I want it now. Next, I need to go through my bedroom drawers and purge things I never wear anymore. Then, I'll move to my studio.
I've just realized that school starts for me in about 2.5 weeks. eek! I do not feel ready.
I'm sure I'll relax once I'm there, though. Fear of the unknown is often worse than the actual thing and I'm trying (really trying) to tell myself that.
Other than my closet, I want to:
bake bread
kitchen cleanup
make bed and tidy bedroom
hopefully start on the studio
figure out what classes I need to take
make out list for Dr. on Monday
vacuum (REALLY needs it)
make ravioli
I defrosted some of my ravioli filling a couple days ago and now I just need to make the pasta dough for it. I plan to make it tonight for dinner. This recipe I have for the filling is amazing. The best I've ever had. Trevor LOVES it too, so we're on a bit of a ravioli kick right now. tee-hee
Well, I've been on here long enough. Have a great one ladies and remember, fall is coming!

Good morning ladies,
I am just wiped out today. I spent most of yesterday picking beans, snapping them, prepping them for the freezer, cleaning litter boxes, and just lots of stuff where I was sweating bullets. Heat index was over 105* most of the afternoon. All of that heat just took it out of me. Then I slept too long this morning and woke up with a headache. So today I am taking it easy. I have a chicken casserole cooked in the crockpot. It was simple. I just put some chicken breasts in the bottom, added carrots, potatoes, celery, onion, and some leftover green beans. Added salt and pepper and water to cover, then threw in some brown rice. It cooked all night, and now our dinner and Kevin's lunch is prepared.
I never have gotten anything sandwiched. I decided I need to work on the garden when it is ready. Thankfully the garden is caught up for now.
Today is our little granddaughter, Madison's, first birthday. I don't see her much, but I am sure thinking about her. It is sad to have a grandchild when there are problems between the parents that prohibit the grandparents from spending time with the grandchild. It makes me sad to think about. She will probably grow up not really knowing us. Now I have done it. I am all weepy again.
Please forgive me for crying all over you. It is just that I am so close to our other 4 grandchildren, that it breaks my heart to have a grandchild who doesn't even know me.
Enough of that.
I plan on spending some time today with my feet propped. The heat and humidity again has my ankles swollen. So I can sit and do handwork while my feet are up and the swelling is going down. (at least I hope it goes down today) So I guess I will get off here and get Kevin's lunch in his thermos. Everyone have a great day. Thinking of your all.
Blessings,
Winona

It is sad to have a grandchild when there are problems between the parents that prohibit the grandparents from spending time with the grandchild. It makes me sad to think about. She will probably grow up not really knowing us. Now I have done it. I am all weepy again. Cry Please forgive me for crying all over you. It is just that I am so close to our other 4 grandchildren, that it breaks my heart to have a grandchild who doesn't even know me.
Oh Winona, this is such a sad situation. I'm sorry you are going through such heartbreak.
Praying for your comfort.

Winona,I just want to tell you that you are such a wonderful grandmother to actually realize this about your grandbaby. My mil has nothing to do with our children. And my hubby has brought this up numerous times. And she ALWAYS blames everyone else instead of taking on any of the responsibility.
We tell each other all the time that she is really missing out.Our two oldest children realize she is not around and ask all the time why doesn't nana love us enough to want to spend time with us?And I always say I don't know,I really wish I did because you are some really great kids.
Okay, enough hoping down off my soapbox.LOL

Totally agree on this one!
I don't get what some in the grandparent generation are thinking....I can only imagine having grandchildren will be just as exciting and fulfilling as having children....in a different way, of course.
I don't know what else in life is so much more exciting, interesting or fulfilling other than being with your grandbabies...
We have some Kodak moment relatives as well....

Blessings,
Winona
(((hugs))) Winona! You are the sweetest Grandma I know!!
I'm sorry you don't get to spend time with Madison. I know it breaks your heart...but you just be there however you can...one day, when she's grown some, she'll see all that you did...and maybe come around on her own. Children have a unique ability to see through the garbage and they know who truly loves and cares for them...
I hear you on the heat and humidity. We don't keep our a/c set very low....it's on 83* for most of the day...so even being in the house isn't that great of a change. It's most certainly better than those above 100* heat indexes we've been having..but it's not exactly cool and comfortable if you are up and doing something. I want fall....this is my time of year to bellyache and complain. I don't complain about rain, cold or snow..but I sure do about heat and humidity. I'm glad August is almost here...and am ready for it to be over before it even begins. August is typically our hottest month...
You rest those feet, my dear!!
Love ya!

What time is supper??? Yours sounds YUMMY!!!
You'll do great in school...must be exciting to be doing that!!
And do you promise??? Is fall really on its way??! Dare to dream...
Blessings,
Laurie

Jennie
Jennie,
Our washer and kitchen sink empty into the yard next to our home...so if we wanted to, we could use that gray water as well. I guess it depends upon where your water empties...
We have Rebecca pitch in for gas now too. The trips are not cheap to make to take her and pick her up. It's kind of hard taking money from her for this...but I've been putting it away and hope to be able to put it towards a car for her...or something. I've had to dip into it a few times, but try to put it back if possible. With extra running...either to the hospital after our young friends' accident or to town for the gym or whatever, the last month or so, I've gone through $75 worth of gas in the Burb alone..(not counting Toby's truck)....we just can't afford to do that. So, I'm trying to make the current tank last at least 2 weeks...no extra running and staying home as much as possible. So far, so good...
It is hard for young people to find jobs. Rebecca would like to babysit for others. She does babysit for two friends of mine for our Moms' night out once a month. We don't really know any more Moms personally who might be looking for a sitter...and are a bit leery of just putting her name out there...
Thomas NEEDS a job...he needs something outside of home....and I'm praying that once he turns 15 next month, something will come available for him....close to home would be great!
Blessings,
Laurie

I am so with you on this one! We got AC last year and I am so grateful for it but I still feel hot and icky all the time. Better than I did before the AC but I still feel it. My sewing room is a spare room with a freezer and a fridge running in it so it's always warmer. I want to live on a mountain. With a large mountain lake. With little icebergs floating on it!!
Debi
Sounds lovely, Debi!
If our home were better insulated, we could maybe afford to keep the a/c at a more comfortable temp. As it is, we are spending at least $150 a month on electric...that's with keeping the temp at 80* or above, not baking, using the toaster oven for warm-ups, and hanging all of our laundry out. I can't imagine what our bill would be if we didn't do those things. I know the TVA has announced there will be a rate increase..can't remember if they said August or October...ugh....
Living on a mountain with a lake sounds DIVINE...not so sure about the icebergs...only if it's half the year...my family would not like it if it were year round...
Blessings,
Laurie

Debi
That's alot of running around! I'm done with mine for the day. And the Burb was acting funny on the way home, so I'm grounded till Honey looks at it...fine by me!
Oh, your day sounds lovely...70's is the perfect temp...and low humidity....sounds lovely...enjoy it for me!
Blessings,
Laurie

Good afternoon!
We're at the library. Bethany didn't get to go to church camp after all.
We packed her bag Saturday ,had her all ready to go for Monday morning.
Sunday afternoon she started saying her nose felt funny and that she didn't feel the greatest.
Yep,she came down with a summer cold of all times. We made the call to keep her at home.
Yesterday Dan came down with it,he spent the afternoon in bed, sore throat, lots of nose blowing
and body aches.
I feel like I'm trying to get a sore throat, trying to rebuke it off myself.
Bethany felt better this morning,so we came to the library for the summer reading party.
They played small water games and then made swamp monster cupcakes!
I cleaned up the homeschool cabinet yesterday, threw out some stuff and have a pile of
stuff to take next month to a homeschooling fair in the park at Branson! We wanted to go ti it
last year but it was raining the day of the fair.
I am now ready to start the new school year. The cabinet is cleaned up with our new books
in place,we have plenty of pencils, etc.,so let the fun begin!
I think we'll have pasta with meatballs for dinner tonight, sounds good!
Have a blessed afternoon,
Suzanne

Winona, I understand how you feel. My sister is mentally ill and has nothing to do with the family. She had a daughter that we did not know. Mom talked to her a few times when she was little and we saw her when she was a baby but that was it. Even when she was a teenager and my sister got in touch with us she would not allow her daughter to have anything to do with us. It was like this for years.
Then one day about 2 years ago my niece called me one day. She is an adult now, her mom is not a part of her life, and she wanted to get to know us. I was shocked and very thrilled.
I now have a very good and close relationship with my niece! We talk all the time! She calls just to chat, or to run new ideas by me, or when she is troubled about something. She also has a very close and loving relationship with my mom.
She has come to discover for herself that we aren't the awful people her mom always told her we were. I do not have a relationship with my sister because for various reasons I just can't have her in my life. I pray for her daily, but that is all I can do at this time.
Hang in there Winona! Someday your granddaughter will want to know about you and have a relationship with you! No, you can't make up for all the lost years, but the ones ahead will be so sweet and fulfilling!
