There's a mucus-y cough going around our community.  Bryan got it a week ago, and refused any herbs or to go to the doctor.  Now Rachael has it, and I have a sore throat, so I think I'm getting it as well.  For me, I've been doing grapefruit seed extract in orange juice.  Is that safe to also give Rachael?  (she's just over a year now)  I would do echinacia tinctures too, but I dont know where to get glycerine so all my tinctures are done in alcohol, which I'm not comfortable taking since I'm pregnant or giving Rachael.  Anything else I could do for her?

I've heard a garlic mixture or poultice on a baby's feet, but haven't done it so don't know details.  I bet you could google and find info, or www.welltellme.com usually  has a lot of info on alternative remedies.  I think you just have to use your judgment on the GSE for Rachael.  My thought would be that if it's safe for you while pregnant, it should be as safe for an older baby as one just developing...again, my personal opinion.  I have taken it while pregnant myself, though, short-term.

A humidifier is great for cough as well, if you're not already running one.

Hope you can both get to feeling better!

Humidifier and Vicks! That's what we do. Watch this cough; it turned into an ear infection in my youngest. DH and I both ended up on antibiotics, too.

sure.  i got a couple garlic cloves, peeled them, and the squished them lengthwise with a fork in a papertowel, then i folded the paper towel up so the garlic wouldnt fall out.  did that one for each foot, then held them on Rachael's feet until she informed me I wasnt allowed to touch her feet anymore (she doesnt like her feet to be messed with)
