What gifts did you get this year that you want to remeber next year to make or buy? I got the cutest ornaments that were made from a canning jar seal. The ornament was sprayed navy blue(to look like midnight), painted with a snowman with a textured white paint, splattered with white paint to look like snow and a small hole drilled in top with a brown twine string ran through to hang with. The giver put each childs name on one ornamnet and gave as a gift. Very inexpensive but very nice. I plan to make these for teacher gifts next year.

Oh thank you so much Stefanien!

Your description is awesome. We have friends that moved out of state and this would be perfect for them. Maybe I will even have the kids make some extras with their own names on them for our tree!

Thanks again!

Oh, edited as DS posted before I was finished lol

I made a bookmark for my father in law in cross stitch, then put a nice backing on it from my stash.  It was very inexpensive to make and came out very pretty.  Plus since I added a saying that was personal to him, it made it more special.  I hope to make several next year to give as smaller gifts.

Memorial gifts given this year were UFO fabric projects finished and then "let go" to others in the family.

I have far too many projects in the works. Or affectiontly called UFO's in my sewing room. I made a great effort to finish 8 of these and move them on to family and friends.

This year the family ornament was 2 yo-yo's of Christmas fabric tacked together with a red button on each side and hung by a golden thread. These went over big for family and friends.

One of the things that was really exceptional this year was the way we started our christmas decorating etc. on Saint Nicholas day.  It tied both feasts together, which helps with the Saint Nicholas-Santa situation.  It was easier of course because december 6th was on a sunday this year.  Still, I really think that putting up our christmas decorations and nativity scene on december 6th is going to become an annual tradition.
